Dr. Young and all the staff were very genuine and personable. They put me at ease and I enjoyed interacting with them during the appointment. Something that I thought was a really nice feature was that they have a computer screen pulled up next to the patient chair so you can see all the x-rays and pictures that they are taking and both the hygienist and Dr. Young took the time to go through them and explain to me what we were seeing. I really appreciated it that because often the dentist just does their thing and you don’t know what’s going on and are awkwardly trying to see what is happening on the screen. Here they just put it right in front of you, and make sure you understand exactly what is happening, which is super helpful for understanding your situation and how to take care of yourself. Transparency from the medical profession! It’s great.

Dr. Young’s friendly disposition and genuine interest in balancing comfort with impeccable work product helps patients feel safe in the hands of an expert.  This is only furthered by his attentive, understanding support staff who help cater to patients as much as Dr. Young. When you enter the office, you feel like a person. You are not a dollar sign. You are not another number. In addition, his office enables several convenient methods of keeping in touch and staying on top of routine check-ups, including optional text message appointment reminders.  The registration process was incredibly seamless as patients are directed to fill out informational forms online before their first appointment. It seems that Dr. Young has truly considered the needs of his patients and has gone above and beyond to accommodate them.  With so many options for choosing a dentist, Dr. Young’s unique approach is refreshing and will definitely encourage me to recommend his practice to everyone I know.

I was referred to Young through a co worker and initially  who is also a fine dentist. But since I was referred specifically to Dr. Young, I wanted him to do my crown work. I had half the work done today and I have to say, he is a very kind, gentle dentist and personable. I will have the rest of the work done next month. They worked with me on payment plan and the staff is extremely friendly. I recommend this dental office to anyone looking for a reliable, great dentist and friendly staff.

I just moved to San Francisco about a year ago, and randomly picked Dr. Young off his website as he was in the neighborhood.  After not visiting a dentist for about three years, needless to say I was expecting to be without solid food for a little while, and I was for the most part correct.  However, I can compliment the doc and his staff for doing a great job, having me in and out quick, and also paying attention to whether I was about to jump out of the chair or not.  He was quick, but very attentive, and took an interest to make sure i wasn’t in any pain.  Really nice guy, really great staff..  So much so, that i actually took the time to register on this site just to give the review! Thanks Dr. Young!

Truly one of the finest dentists I have ever known (and I used to work with the dental society so I know) Dr Young is the epitome of caring and compassion. His staff and wonderful. You can rely on receiving the best possible care as well as the latest in technologies that make the process much easier and less painful. I can’t recommend Young Dental enough.

My experience was actually with  Dr. Young’s associate. I was quite surprised by how seamless, efficient and professional the whole team was. The hygienist was pleasant, painless and was happy to answer any questions I had. When I went back for a root canal and to fill a few cavities, Dr. Van prescribed Xanax which was nice, he let me listen to my headphones too, which I found comforting. The shocker was when after working on the errant tooth for a few minutes he announced that I didn’t need a root canal after all! He didn’t do an unnecessary procedure just to enrich himself and that increased my confidence in his integrity. He could have gone ahead and done the root canal and I would have had not known the difference. The other thing I liked was the complete, itemized and attractive statement I received before and after the procedure. You have to decode the dentist-speak to understand it but it was great to have such a competent writing. I should say that they are not inexpensive but I think they are in the range of similar private practice dentists in San Francisco. The front desk women were really friendly and kept in touch through e-mail and texting. Definitely a high tech digital practice to be admired. I highly recommend them.

First of all I have been to some terrible dentists here in the city, so this was a breath of fresh air.  We got off to a bit of a miscommunication, only in that I specifically asked for Dr. Young based on a referral from a co worker.  I kept getting Dr. Van.  He is great too.  I just wanted the person I was referred to. They were great about it. Great dental office, friendly staff, on time appointments, and Dr.Young does great work, fast and efficient and steady handed.  I had double crowns done and the appt today was painless, I opted for no Novocaine and it was  painless.  They were fitting my permanent crowns.  They were fast and his assistant Hong (sorry for spelling) is absolutely wonderful!  I go back for another crown and replacement filling next month, they worked out a payment plan with the remaining from my Insurance…great team, I highly recommend them:)

Dr Young is a amazing dentist. He has been my dentist for the pass few years. His staff is always friendly. I always get friendly reminders when my next appointment is due. He’s knowledgable and if you have any questions he will explain in details. The plus side is that they are located near the Shopping area. So it’s always nice to treat yourself to something after a day at the dental office.

If you are nervous or have dental anxiety, Dr. Young is the dentist to see. I had to have extensive dental work done, including root canals, extractions, fillings, etc. and Dr. Young and his staff were amazing. I am probably the most anxious/scared person I know when it comes to dental work but they put me right at ease and walked me through every step. He is incredibly gentle and never pushes you to do more than you feel comfortable with. I am very grateful to have found this office. I highly recommend them!!

I normally dread going to the dentist.  I’ve spent years avoiding dental appointments and yes, the overall health of my mouth.  A few months ago my mouth finally decided to fight back with a horrible toothache and I soon found myself in desperate need of a dentist.  After thumbing through pages of my insurance company’s provider directory I contacted Dr. Young’s office and in minutes was scheduled for a next day appointment.   I will avoid the details but will tell you that my teeth required a little extra work and I became somewhat of an office regular. In all my visits I felt completely comfortable and didn’t experience any of the usual dread/anxiety. I was so impressed with the caring and friendly atmosphere of the office. The new patient paperwork was minimal.  The office is practically paperless and has forms readily available via the website.  I can’t comment on the wait time because I don’t think I was ever in the waiting room long enough to crack the pages of a magazine before I was called back to the exam room.  Every charge, patient responsibility and insurance requirement was described in full detail.  Dr. Young explained each procedure to me before, during and after each visit and personally called to follow up.   In short, I don’t dread the dentist anymore.  I truly enjoy going to Dr. Young’s office. Not only is Dr. Young fantastic, I love his staff. When I walk in the door, I feel like I am visiting old friends.  I’m greeted by name and everyone is pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable. I feel like more than a name on a list of patients.  It’s a personal dental experience and I walk in and out of the office smiling every time.

There’s a reason why Dr. Young will get your teeth looking beautiful… you will be showing it off from the time you get to his office to the time you leave.  You just can’t help but smile and be happy at Dr. Matt Young’s office.  You are greeted by a lovely staff that get you in right away I’ve never had to waste time in the waiting room ever. As for Dr. Young…I absolutely love him.  I would recommend him to anyone. I have some major issues with one of my teeth and I need an implant.  I’ve put it off for years.  When I checked with my last doctor, the process sounded scary and intimidating and I had to go to 2 different people to get the work done.  Dr. Young took the time and explained the process so patiently and answered all of my questions to the point that I am totally at ease with the process and am ready to get the work done.  Best of all, I only have to see him… nobody else! Overall not only is Dr. Young a true professional he has created an office that is fun, welcoming and friendly.  Two thumps up! Way up!

This place is wonderful. I had a tooth that need to be extracted. The first place I went to couldn’t do the job and the second place told me I had to wait until the 28th of this month. My tooth was in bad shape and Dr. Young was very able to pull it out. His assistant Kim is very nice and very helpful. This is my dentist for life. If you are searching or unhappy with your current dentist, please come to this office.

I have had so many bad experiences with Dentists. So much that I had just stopped seeing them. Then a friend recommended I try Dr. Young’s office. As usual I was very nervous but when I arrived there the staff were very friendly. The environment is welcoming and Dr. Young really makes you feel Comfortable! He explains what needs to be done and shows me on the x rays. I’m also afraid of needles but who isn’t? Well surprisingly he even makes that feel slightly less uncomfortable! He even lets me listen to music when he’s working on my teeth! Needless to say I’m happy to have officially found my Dentist.

I have been a client of Dr. Young’s since he started his practice in San Francisco.  I feel very fortunate to have such an excellent dentist.  He is extremely skilled and keeps up on the latest and the greatest. Additionally, he is personable and truly cares about you and what is going on in your life, which I find particularly nice.  He has a fabulous staff and lastly, they remind you by email and text so you always know when your appointments are– it’s great.  I could not be more of a fan. 🙂

Doctor Young is outstanding!  I lost the crown off a front tooth and Doctor Young’s office was able to fit me in for a 4:30 PM appointment the very same day that I called! And I was a new patient, too!  He and his staff were patient with all of my questions about pricing and insurance and payment plans. The new crown cost my family around $1,500 including the cost of the temporary, impressions, multiple visits, etc.  It wasn’t cheap, but $1500 is the standard out of pocket price (I did my research) for a new crown.  Doctor Young  made me a beautiful temporary crown and for the month that I was in and out of his office doing impressions and fitting the new crown.  I came in two times after my first visit.  The first time, the fit if the crown wasn’t perfect so we sent it back to the lab to be fixed.  The second time, I wasn’t thrilled with the contour of the crown, so Doctor Young made the adjustments right there in the office, polished it up, and I was done.  He is the most patient, understanding, and egalitarian dentists I’ve met!  I’ve seen around four or five different doctors over the past 6-7 years dealing with this tooth, and Doctor Young has treated me with the most respect and patience of all of them!  Unlike the other doctors, he never once made me feel bad about asking five more questions or taking one more moment to look at my smile or asking for that one more adjustment.  His motto is: “it totally up to you. It’s your smile.” Great dentist.  Great guy.  Thanks Dr. Young and team!

The Matthew Young dental clinic is great. I had a deep cleaning done earlier this year which was smooth and easy. One of my tooth was hurting and the doctor recommended fixing it with a super easy plan that works with my insurance. I was also given good recommendations on fixing my wisdom teeth. The dental surgery thereafter was smooth. I have been there a few times now and it’s been very easy to work with the staff and the doctors. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend Dr. Young for all your dental care needs. He is gentle, highly skilled and takes the time to calmly talk through any and all concerns and questions. He took my mother’s very difficult case when no one else would. He has compassion. His hygienist is excellent and his office staff are all very nice and professional.

Everyone in the office is so friendly and welcoming. Dr. Young explains everything that is going on in great detail and also has your teeth x-rays on a screen in front of your chair so you can see what he is talking about . I had to get an emergency crown, and the team was quick to work out a monthly payment plan for me since my insurance didn’t cover that expense. I highly recommend Dr. Young

I was looking for a new dentist that was covered my new dental insurance. This practice was recommended by my insurance. My first visit was yesterday, and it was great! The staff and doc were very friendly, efficient, skilled, and informative. I love it when health care staff explain to me why they are doing what they are doing (both practically and from a science perspective). This office does that. I learned all sorts things about my teeth and teeth in general. Love it! Also, the staff is top-notch. (Shout out to Annie!) They are on top of things.  my dentist, was also very thorough in checking out my teeth and explaining to me exactly what was going on and what care plan he recommended. He gets double thumbs up for being more conservative than radical w/ the plan that he recommended. I definitely would recommend this practice to anyone. And, I am thrilled to have found a new dental office that suits my needs and that I like. 🙂

Amazing! They made every effort to take care of all of my needs and squeezed me in for a wisdom tooth extraction. It was over in jiffy! The team was so nice and did little extra things to make me feel cared for. The doc was easy to talk to, incredibly knowledgeable, and I felt like I absolutely knew everything that was going on. Awesome.

GREAT staff and service! I needed a last minute appointment as a new patient and was booked ASAP.  I received a thorough exam with 3 different types of high-tech evaluations. Of course more cavities than expected were uncovered, but there was no pressure to treat or fill any unless they were a problem. They gave me a full comprehensive treatment plan on the spot before I decided what I wanted to do. NOTE: every dentist has a different approach to dentistry, as hairstylists do with cuts and color. Do not be put off if recommendations vary from office to office. Go with your gut for what feels like a good fit for you. Kaela is awesome answering questions by email and Selena is very fast knowing insurance information and taking dental images. Dr. Young was super friendly and went right to work on two fillings and a temporary crown fitting. The calming techniques used by the staff (shoulder tapping, music of your choice with headphones) was awesome. I didn’t feel any of the needles and there was no pain afterwards.   I got the cutest little appointment card for my next visit with a peel-off sticker that you can put right on a paper calendar. They are moving to 490 post in November (expansion) so be patient during the move (…). Dr. Young is the President of the SF Dental Society and has been recognized for his humanitarian work. To boot, I got a follow-up check-in call 48 hours after treatment, which fell on a weekend. Service does not get any better than that. Love this office!

WOW! If you’re looking for a convenient, friendly, and awesome dentist to visit … This is the one! You can easily book your appointment on ZocDoc too! When I first walked in, I was greeted by my name. I waited for maybe 5 minutes total. The staff was on top of their game. Dr. Young is extremely friendly and detailed. I thoroughly enjoyed our chat about my dental health. The hygienist was on point as well! She did an excellent job and was communicative throughout the process. Bonus for being digital and saving the trees! Booking, check-in questionnaire, and receipts, all digital. WIN!

First-rate technically and as a patient-first dental health care practice.  I have continued as a patient over the years because they help me manage my long term tooth and gum health, and they are always ready to come to my aid when life sends those inevitable emergencies. Staff also work hard to help patients make their way through the thicket of dental health insurance — or to work out the economics if insurance is not the best way for a patient to go. Anxiety (physical and fiscal) too often accompany dental health, whether ongoing or emergency. I continue to be so grateful for the connection to Dr. Young and the outstanding team he has assembled. They are first-rate, at both the science and the art of dental health. Bonus 6th Star: Being at their office in the recently renovated 450 Sutter building – the magnificent San Francisco art deco gem – is an amazing treat.

Both the dental hygienist and Dr. Young went out of their way to be friendly and make me feel as though they were genuinely interested in me. It’s the little things that go a long way! Some time in November or December, I had awful pains in my jaw.  I thought maybe I had an infection or something, so I got an emergency appointment to see Dr. Young.  Apparently, there is this thing called lock jaw and it’s a muscle issue.  I’ve never had such a painful experience before.  He told me not to worry, and that they would use lasers to help loosen up the muscle.  I instantly felt better.   I really like Dr. Young because he is not quick just to prescribe painkillers and send you home (I’m really sensitive to medication and I prefer not taking any unless I have to).  He wants to get to the root of the problems and help you solve it.  He recommended me a night guard because I’m a teeth grinder, and the stress from that helped contribute to the lockjaw.  Since I started using the night guard, my jaw is no longer as tense and that horrible, awful pain has not come back. Recently I found out I needed an implant, and a bone graft was required while in for a routine check up.  Well, I should never have googled what a bone graft consisted of because the photos scared the living crap out of me.  Scared.  I was really nervous going in.  Dr. Young and his staff (Veronica is the sweetest person ever) made me feel very comfortable and treated me like I was part of their team.  A short while later, I was out of the office without any pain.  It’s 48 hours later, and the wound has pretty much healed, and I can eat solid food again (hurray!). I’ve never had such a great dentist before.  If you need solid work and a staff that treats you like a person, I can’t recommend a better place.  I think I almost cried a little when thanking him and his staff for how they treated me during the bone graft.  I don’t get emotional that often, but I was really nervous about the surgery, shaking a little.  They did everything to make me feel comfortable and to make sure I had as little pain as possible.  Aside from the initial local anesthesia injection, there was no pain.  I’m always greeted by name, treated with respect and care.  When you see Dr. Young, you don’t just get  him, you also get his wonderful staff.

Dr. Young is my go to dentist. I’m so glad that he took my new dental insurance after I switched job. I go to him for cleaning once a year.   And recently, I was in pain for an entire weekend. Horrible pain. I was so lucky that Dr. Young is available last minute on Monday morning. I heard that it’s quite difficult to schedule last minute appointment with dentists in SF.   I went to Dr.Young’s office, crying because I was in pain, and the whole staff took care of me 100%. They took some x-rays, found out that I have a root inside a gum, a left over from an old tooth extraction. It’s infected, and it needs to be removed asap. And Dr. Young also said I need to pull out my wisdom tooth on the same side of the gum, because it’s gonna cause trouble. He offered to do the surgery on the same day! I was so happy. So while waiting for Dr.Young to help other patients, Veronica gave me a deep cleaning. She’s so gentle, even though I was in pain from the whole root and wisdom tooth problem, I couldn’t feel the deep cleaning (well, the Nitrus helps as well). After 1 hour, Dr.Young came back and ready to do the surgery & extraction. I was sooo nervous, he said DON’T WORRY, YOU’LL BE FINE. WE’LL GET YOU OUT OF YOUR MISERY SOON”. He’s so sweet. The extraction of the wisdom tooth was less than 2 minutes, the gum surgery to extract the old root was a bit longer and more painful because it was already infected. He took care of it quickly as well, cleaned the infection, and off I go. I spent about 3.5 hours there, and my problems are now gone. He’s AMAZING. Other doctors would tell me to come back, schedule another appt for the surgery, etc. Not Dr.Young…he knew I was in pain. He took care of my pain on that day! It’s a big deal! Dr.Young called me the next day to check on me. No doctor does this! Only Dr.Young. He’s awesome. I’m now recovering, and I still can’t believe I did 2 extractions + surgery in one day. I’m not horribly in pain anymore…just a bit sore. I think Dr. Young and the staff did a good job.

What a frickin’ AWESOME dentist! In September 08, I found out Dr. Young had recently took over Dr. Piccolotti’s (Dr. P) practice when I had an emergency to get a veneer fixed, due to the botched up job that Dr. P performed in April 07. I explained my bad experience with Dr. P, and Dr. Young was very sympathetic to my case and repaired the veneer “free of charge”! With this experience, Dr. Young solidified that he is a caring and reputable dentist who cares about his patients and maintaining a good relationship for potential new business. He has a gentle chair side manner, is very nice, funny, friendly, charismatic and his work is excellent!! He explains what he is doing, doesn’t try to up-sell unnecessary services ,and if you’re afraid of the numbing needle, don’t worry with Dr. Young, you won’t feel a thing! He is an EXTREMELY QUALIFIED dentist! I went back to see him for a cleaning yesterday 11/18/08, and had another great experience with him and the staff. Not only did I get an excellent cleaning, but was able to get an old filling repaired that needed to be replaced that same afternoon. It saved me a lot of time from having to make another appointment. I believe most of the staff previously worked with Dr. P, and everyone seems so much more happy and friendly now that Dr. Young has the practice! And yes, Dr. Young is VERY EASY on the EYES! It makes the whole dental experience so much more enjoyable! I wish him and his team much success on their practice. I recommended my coworkers to him today!

I recently switched from my fabulous dentist in Marin to a local dentist in the city. I found Dr. Young through some friends, so decided to make an appt. This guy is great! It wasn’t just your normal appt for cleaning, etc, and then you are out. He talked about other things to make me beautiful like whitening, night guards, etc…but not in a “salesy” way at all. In more like a “I’m your friend and let’s see how we can make your life better” way. He’s young and good-looking, too, so can’t hurt to have that going for you in a dentist! He’s done a lot of wonderful volunteer work over in Asia and seems to be an all-around cool, talented person. Check him out! Staff is great and his rates are reasonable…nothing crazy like some of the local Marina/Pac Heights dentists can be.

I had a dental emergency and called. They had a cancelation and saw me immediately. This was my first dentist visit in San Francisco and have zero regrets. The staff is professional, the hygienist was thorough, and the doctor efficiently identified problems, laid out treatment options (replacing sealants and a night retainer), and said see you soon. I was in and out with x-rays, a cleaning, and exam in a little over an hour. I have found my dentist in a new city and it feels great 🙂
