Check out what some of our happy patients are saying about us:

Moss R. from New York, NY (Source: Yelp)

I would like to add my review of Dr. Maus’ dental practice. Dr. Maus has been my dentist for…. coming on 20 years. In fact, she was my dentist while I was living in California and continues to be even though I now live in New York City. Growing up I never liked going to the dentist, but when Dr. Maus was recommended to me, all that changed. I have never found anyone, in any medical field, to be so caring, sensitive, and empathic to the patient. She has always given me her undivided attention, always looks to my needs, and always asks and shows concern about my well being during my visit. Another thing about Dr. Maus that I appreciate and speak of when I recommend to her to anyone looking for a dentist, is her artistic sensibility. I had very bad looking teeth, pitted from years of braces. Dr. Maus fixed all of the issues I had and now my teeth look so natural, one could never tell I’ve had such issues, especially my front teeth. Dr. Maus knew exactly how to shape and shade and make them beautiful. I feel another dentist might make my front teeth look like a rabbit, long and big, or oh so too bright. (I see those people with such big big teeth and I cringe) Well that is my opinion. I’ll continue to see Dr. Maus wherever I am.

Dr. Maus has been my dentist since 2003 and my husband’s for almost that long. She and her staff are professional and extremely personable, always offering advice but never suggesting unnecessary procedures or services. We’d previously taken our 4 year old daughter to a children’s dental practice in Noe Valley and she was very intimated and scared…the chair-side manner left all of us very unimpressed. They also charged us 200.00 over the quote we were given for services they didn’t complete – and that we had specifically requested they not perform – because my daughter was crying and they couldn’t see her teeth. We eventually got a refund months later, but financial complaints aside, we knew we couldn’t go back there without scaring our kid. When I asked Dr. Maus for a children’s dentist recommendation after our horrible experience, I was so relieved to hear that they welcome child patients. My daughter has had two appointments with Dr. Maus so far, and she now loves going to the dentist! She says she can’t wait to go back so she can get more animal floss and wear the big sunglasses while the nice dentist brushes her teeth. I can’t recommend this practice more highly!

G. A. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Dr. Maus is the most caring, compassionate, professional dentist I’ve ever seen.  She is thorough and efficient, using the most progressive methods.  Dr. Maus obviously takes pride in her profession, and it shows in her technique and equipment.  She, and her entire staff (kudos to Nydia and Martha), has a gentle, caring, calming demeanor.  If you only see one dentist after 40 years of oral neglect, she is the one to trust!

Michael I. from San Mateo, CA (Source: Yelp)

My entire family, including myself, my wife, and my son, have been Dr. Maus’s patients for about 15 years. We moved from San Francisco to San Mateo 9 years ago, but we continue seeing her nonetheless. What’s a 40-minute-long drive compared to a dentist like that? Not only is she a great dentist, she’s also a wonderful human being. I keep telling her I feel so relaxed and reassured in her chair that I almost doze off. In the 15 years I’ve been her patient I have NEVER felt any pain AT ALL. I don’t know how she manages to do that. Her offices are located just one block from Union Square in San Francisco; each room has a window and features natural lighting and fresh air. Her office equipment is top-notch. Her hands are so light they are weightless. What I also love about her is that she always explains what she does at every point in time. I always refer all my friends and relatives to her. I feel so lucky and thankful to have her.

Richard A. from Mill Valley, CA (Source: Yelp)

I had a cracked molar, from an old cavity that made the tooth unstable. Had been with the same dentist for the previous 20 years and felt it was time to switch it up. Dr. Maus came recommended to me by my girlfriend and I am super grateful she mentioned Dr. Maus. The office staff are great, friendly and very helpful. They helped me understand what my insurance covered, etc. And Dr. Maus is very professional. The procedure went very smoothly and I have a new crown, no pain and no hassle at all. I will continue to see Dr. Maus for all my dental needs and I heartily recommend her if you are looking for a dentist. Thanks Dr. Maus (and staff)!

Susan G. from Pacifica, CA (Source: Yelp)

Love this office. Dr. Maus is very personable & highly talented. She takes care of me & all my family & friends. The wonderful chairside assistant, Karla is so fantastic. They are completely painless & always make you feel comfortable & at home. What a team! People you can definitely trust 100%. Thank you team Maus !!

Miguel V. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I’ve been going to this practice for at least 6 years, and every single person there has been fantastic from the front desk, hygienists, dentist. Some people dread going to the dentist, but for me it’s honestly been a very pleasant experience every time I go, which is at least twice a year. I recommend this practice to any of my friends looking for a new dental office.

K. L. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Dr Maus is a wonderful dentist been going to her for years, very gentle and she sure knows how to make teeth pretty. I’ve had a cap on my front tooth since I was in second grade and you could always tell it was different and I went to see her and now it looks like the rest of my teeth.

Karmacita M. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

In partnership with Dr. Maus, given that in invisalign is still a new technology, we were able to get another set of trays to continue to perfect my teeth. The original time permitted by and visit line was not enough and I appreciated the doctors persistence on this.

Anne P. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I love it here. It’s clean. Located by tons of shops if you want to shop before or after your appointment. Dr. Maus is very friendly and no nonsense. She tells you exactly how things are and doesn’t try to sell you on services you do not need. She actually makes me want to come to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned! They get you in and out so dreading the dentist shouldn’t be something you have to worry about. Bravo, team!

Jeff M. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I have had a ton of dental works throughout my life and this is as good as it gets. Melissa does all of our her cleanings and is super gentle. I have been seeing her for the past couple of years. She is very conservative in her approach to performing work which I can appreciate. With other dentists in the past I have sometimes felt that they were doing work that was unnecessary to increase revenues but I have never felt this with Melissa. I just saw her for a cleaning and I had a missing piece of composite that needed replaced and so I had to be numbed. I felt zero pain during the procedure and this included being stuck with the needle to number me up. And I have nothing but great experiences with the office staff also!

JJ. B. from Half Moon Bay, CA (Source: Yelp)

I was a patient of Dr. Maus for over two years while I lived in the SF Bay Area. She is the best dentist I”ve ever gone to, in many regards. In addition to having top notch dental skills, she communicates very well with her patients, explains in advance what needs to be done, prepares and gives you a well detailed dental treatment plan with costs worked out, helps the patient plan how to best structure the dental work in stages for financial reasons, etc. Dr. Maus also worked with a periodontist in the same building, so it made treatment coordination between the two dental providers easy and efficient. Her office staff are extremely pleasant and always helpful. I recently relocated back down to San Diego again, and will truly miss working with Dr. Maus. I cannot speak highly of her

Jill H. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Like most people, I am not a fan of having people poke and prod around my teeth and gums. Thankfully Dr. Maus understands this and explains how she is going to poke and prod before just shoving instruments into your mouth. I like knowing things like “it is going to feel like a toothpick is being shoved between your teeth” or “this drill is going to vibrate” before they happen so I am not surprised. Her staff is great as well and her office is very clean with mostly current magazines – a bonus!

John W. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I popped in in a hurry to get two teeth with rough edges smoothed out — and I was in and out in 15 minutes with no muss or fuss. Such a relief as I hate dentists who make you do exams, X-rays, etc.  when all you need is a quick fix. I’m going back to get a proper checkup and cleaning etc. Melissa is lovely and very professional and her associate and desk clerk were both really warm and friendly. Three thumbs up!

Sarah W. from Los Angeles, CA (Source: Yelp)

So far so good! My first visit was a breeze. Very friendly staff who all try to make you feel at ease, in more ways than one. Dr. Maus herself is friendly, sweet, attentive to your teeth (no rushed cleaning job). Wants to make sure you’re comfortable and not in pain. Only went in for a cleaning this time, but it was one of the most relaxed teeth cleanings I’ve had…if one can say that a teeth cleaning is relaxing 🙂

Dwight B. from Durham, NC (Source: Yelp)

I saw Dr. Maus for a routine exam and cleaning. The exam was very thorough and she took the time to explain everything in detail. Her office is nicely decorated and has all modern equipment. It’s clear Dr. Maus and her staff take great pride in making their patients as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

Miriam S. from San Francisco Bay Area, CA (Source: Yelp)

This is the best dental office I’ve ever been to (including NYC) and I’m glad a coworker recommended her. Dr. Maus is professional, warm and thorough. Her office is super clean, she’s got modern equipment (I saw my teeth on TV in black & white, diagrammed on computer, and photographed), and she caused me no pain when she did a filling. She is transparent about what she’s doing and takes time to explain it, making you feel safe and pampered but without detracting from quality work. Everyone in her office is professional, engaging and courteous. You forget that you’re in a dentist’s office and actually look forward to the visit.

Leigh W. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Aw man! Totally impressed with this place, and happy to say I think I have found my go-to dentist! I called late Thursday hoping to make an appointment for *maybe* October to come in for a routine cleaning and check up. (I had called several places before who were booked until Halloween!) I was pleasantly surprised to find that an appointment had been cancelled for the following Friday morning so I was able to come in the next day! Wow! The office was pretty easy to find, and likewise parking was easy to find too (however, I am on a motorcycle!). The staff was friendly and helped me out with my insurance. Melissa and her assistant were also very friendly and easy to talk to. Dr. Maus showed me 18? pictures of my teeth and explained things thoroughly. Her and her DA took their time, were very knowledgeable, and also very encouraging considering I had not been to the dentist in about 5 years. (Ugh, I know.) All in all I’m really super happy I came here! It was meant to be! Haha! I couldn’t stop smiling after I left! Melissa really got in there and cleaned my teeth very well! I’m going back this Wednesday to get some cavities (dun dun dun) filled, so I’ll be sure to report on that experience as well! So happy and proud of myself for finally getting to this sometimes intimidating, but necessary health precaution! Highly recommend!

Melissa Maus is a true professional who is dedicated to helping her patient’s needs. I went in for a standard teeth cleaning and at the time of appointment I asked if we would have enough time for me to get impressions for updated retainers and if I could have one of my teeth filed down (since one was longer than the other), and it was no problem! I was in and out of the office under an hour and was back to my office in no time. Her dental hygienists are great and make teeth cleaning quick and painless. Some dental hygienists I have had in the past took forever to clean my teeth and poked my gums so much that they were sore and swollen when I would leave. I would recommend anyone to come to Melissa Maus, her and her staff are wonderful and make a teeth cleaning appointment a positive and comfortable experience.

Victoria B. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Dr. Son-McIntyre is thee best dentist I have ever visited!  I believe she is part of the practice of Melissa Maus (also awesome).  The entire office is honestly one of the best businesses I have ever visited; Dr. Maus examined my mouth and was very thorough and gentle (I am phobic).  Dr. McIntyre actually cleaned my teeth and she is beyond awesome!  I had neglected my cleanings because I became phobic, but she did such a great job and made sure it was pain free.  (and it WAS).   This is a state of the art office, and the office personnel, especially Jim at the front desk, is fantastic.  I live most of the year in New York but will fly back just to visit Dr. McIntyre and have her clean my teeth, to see Dr. Maus, and to be under the care of this excellent practice is sooo worth it.  The best dental care ever!!! Highly recommend. don’t go anywhere else!!!

Brianna M. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Dr. Maus is the first dentist I’ve had that I don’t dread visiting. She is always gentle, always on time and has a great bedside manner as well (plus she wears really cute pink gloves). I can also truly say that I have never felt any pain whilst in her chair. Great, friendly staff, very courteous and professional. They always text or call for appointment confirmation. The best part — she’s right up the street from Loehmann’s so you can treat yourself after your visit! Definitely a win-win situation

Colleen Li (Source: Facebook)

Melissa is extremely knowledgable and thorough with each and every appointment. She doesn’t rush you through. One of the best dentists I’ve had in a long time. I keep coming back to her! Highly recommend her.

C. M. from Elk Grove, CA (Source: Yelp)

Dr. Maus is an incredible dentist. I have very sensitive teeth and I have never had a dentist as gentle and caring as Dr. Maus. A few years ago I chipped a tooth very badly, and, because I was pregnant could not take the normal pain relieving or numbing medications. She did such a good job at making the discomfort minmal and making sure I felt okay. Now, I take my small children to her and they are comfortable with her cleaning their teeth and filling cavities. I have never had less fear or dislike of the dentist since I have been her patient, and I am glad my kids are starting their dental care routines with such a trusting and careful dentist.

Annette G. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Dr. Melissa Maus is a rock-start dentist. I had a dental emergency (bad dentistry, by a less than expert dentist – but that’s another review) and needed help for a poorly fitting crown that was causing me intense pain. Right in the middle of a pandemic. You don’t really think about needing a dentist – the fact that they don’t have open offices, staff to make appointments, take payment, do x-rays, etc. etc. etc., that is, until you have an emergency, in a pandemic. After calling one dentist who wasn’t taking anyone new (because he didn’t have my records and didn’t know how to do all the other things I mentioned), and didn’t have much of a bedside manner either… he at least pointed me to the San Francisco Dental Association after I asked in panic, where I could go. Amazingly there were only a few dentists in San Francisco (3 at the time) who were taking new patients with dental emergencies. WHAAAAA?? One of them was Dr. Maus. I called her (on her cell). She was kind, set the appointment, sent me the forms, met me at her office, did x-rays (herself), shaved down my ill-fitting crown and thanked me for coming in. Best of all, my crown is not causing me pain and I have time to get things done right after this whole COVID19 business is done. Now that’s a dentist I want to have in my life. And will. I highly recommend a dentist who is skilled, compassionate, and is ready to serve people when they most need it – Dr. Maus. I’m a fan and now a patient.

Avi B. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

This review is long overdue (but better late than never, right?). I have been going to Dr. Maus for over a decade. Her professionalism, demeanor, and work are outstanding and so is her staff’s. She has a very light touch, which I appreciate (I’ve had dentists who made my jaw hurt). Importantly, she takes great care in explaining all procedures, minor and major, in an extremely clear and helpful way. Going to the dentist is never fun, but with Dr. Maus, it’s actually a pleasant (I kid you not) experience in which I feel taken care of and valued. Thank you Dr. Maus, for being such a wonderful dentist and a kind and humane person.

Susan O. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I have gone to this office for 2 years and every service has been good. The staff are very kind, knowing we would prefer not being at the dentist! I had a molar crown that kept coming off, and Dr. Maus crafted a solution that has stayed on and feels good. I highly recommend this office.

Tina O. from Oceano, CA (Source: Yelp)

I highly recommend Dr. Maus! I’ve been seeing Dr. Maus for twenty plus years. I’ve had numerous dental procedures done from my wisdom teeth being pulled, countless cavities filled, crowns put on, and most recently I went through the teeth straightening process of Invisalign. I can’t tell you how pleased I am!!! My teeth look fabulous! Dr. Maus has always treated me with care and compassion. She has always been very professional. I have never experienced any pain during my visits. She always looks out for my comfort. In addition, she’s very conscientious and good at what she does, ensuring that I have a great smile!

Jake B. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

This is a great dental practice. I’ve seen Dr. Maus a few times and she’s always been wonderful. Her assistants are just as good. I’ve had one filling done and it was painless and haven’t had any issues yet. I had her replace some bonding on a couple of chipped teeth that a previous dentist butchered numerous times and it’s was leaps and bounds better than what I had before. All the office equipment is state of art as well. They send you email and text message reminders about a week before your appointment in case you need to reschedule or forgot the date. I’ve recommended a few people to this practice and each person has had the same opinion as myself.

Shelbie R. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

Was new to the area and Dr. Mauss was recommended by a physician I work with.  She’s friendly, quick, intuitive to her patient’s needs, and often times does my routine cleaning herself (which I like).  Like the fact that she has an electric health record and I can always see the digital display of my teeth on the screen in front of me which empowers me to inquire about my dental health.  I have now been seeing her for several years and appreciate the visit reminders her office sends out prior to your appointment.

Pinar E. from San Bruno, CA (Source: Yelp)

I had my fair share of problems with dentists: Doctors who kept postponing preventive care for years eventually resulting in a broken tooth, receptionists with antiquated billing methods that kept sending me bills 4-5 months after my appointment that my insurance should have (and did) cover, receptionists, who argued that I had to bill my insurance myself because the insurance didn’t give her another option (I caught her in the middle of her lie, since the insurance rep I happened to call told me that the receptionist just called to ask the same question and she told her otherwise),….you name it. I wanted to make sure I got a good one this time and yelp didn’t have that many reviews for dentists at that time. I remember looking at another site for dentist reviews. Long story short, I am so happy I found Dr. Maus. Everything is seamless. Her work is very thorough, quick and painless. She is very skilled with her hands. I had a chip in my front tooth that she fixed and I can’t even see or feel where the filling starts and she was so fast. I am embarrassed that I can’t remember her name, but the hygenist is also great. My dentist problems have ended. I’ve kept going to her for years even though her office is in downtown SF and I neither live or work in the city. But the Sutter garage is convenient enough and I get an early appointment each time, so I can avoid any traffic. She is a UCSF alumnus and I am not surprised. The only other good dentist experience I had was when I used to visit the student clinic at UCSF (beware, your appointment here will take a long time). I am a UCSF alumnus myself (not dentist), so maybe I am biased.

Rachel H. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I just had my first filling ever here, and all I have to say is: who knew that needles and drills in your mouth could be so painless? I found this place through Yelp and got the special offer on the exam, and also got a cleaning, during which Dr. Maus noted what I already knew in my heart to be true: I have 3 cavities. Dr. Maus and her assistant are skilled professionals. I felt very comfortable the entire time. Not only did she find my cavities, she clearly marked them on a chart and showed me exactly what needed to be done. Also, she was sensitive to my budget (I have NO insurance) and allowed me to choose to have them done one at a time. I feel like prices here are very reasonable, compared with other dentists. The cheapest fillings Dr. Maus offers are composite resin, which are tooth colored. I’m under the impression here that she doesn’t do amalgam fillings at all, though I could be mistaken (amalgam fillings are those horrible black metal ones that look like crap). For the filling itself, it was basically totally painless. She numbed up my mouth real good with a topical analgesic before she even came near it with the needle. And also, it seemed to me that she was careful to not let me actually SEE the big freakin needle, which I thought was a nice touch. She then finished up the visit by making sure my bite was biting properly, and then I was good to go. Since then, I’ve been tonguing my newly filled tooth all day. It feels so smooth and strong! It feels like it could bite through anything! And it looks just like all my other teeth! Thank you Dr. Maus! I’ll be back as soon as my health care spending card fills up with money again! 🙂

Lucy A. from Anchorage, AK (Source: Yelp)

Found this place via yelp and though my insurance. First time ever I wasnt squirming on the chair while I got my teeth cleaned and examined. Staff is super friendly and decor makes it feel less intimidating than other dentist offices.

Christopher W. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I am so pleased that I am a patient of Dr Maus. The entire team was so pleasant and professional in their way of interacting with their new and exisiting patients. Lydia, the lead receptionist wsa so caring as I observed her way of taking genuine and sincere care of her patients. I love the fact that Dr Maus and her team took their time to go through with you of each of their procedure, making you feeling important. Best of all the examination and procedure was absoultely painless… Definitely oe of the best dental experience.

Darren I. from San Francisco, CA (Source: Yelp)

I have been going to Dr. Maus for over 15 years and she is the best.  Professional, helpful, informative and gentle.  If you have any fear of dentists, you won’t after a visit to her office.  The staff that work in the office are also very friendly and helpful.

Scott K. from Pittsford, NY (Source: Yelp)

My wife started going to Dr. Maus several years ago, while I was still seeing a traditional make-your-gums-bleed-then-make-you-feel-guilty-about-it dentist like a sucker. She had to drag me there to make me realize that for the same cost, I could go a dentist who’s friendly, painless, and thorough. I can’t imagine why anybody, regardless of how they feel about dentists, would go anywhere else.
