I have been a patient of Oakton Family Dentistry for over fifteen years, after seeing a variety of dentists. There is simply no equal to this practice anywhere in the DC area, they are fantastic! So many reasons why, here are my top three: 1) the dentists are talented and 100% committed to making recommendations in your best interest (not to drive profits), 2) The hygienists are top notch and spend the time needed to do cleanings right, 3) the equipment is constantly upgraded and state of the art (heated massage chairs, mouth cancer screening lights, intelligent office software, you name it). During these COVID times, the practice follows strict protocols to keep everyone safe, even staggering when you walk in or out of the office with signals. I need a good dentist to keep my teeth healthy and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else! Really exceptional provider.

I am grateful to have been receiving high quality professional care from Oakton Family Dentistry for the last five years. The whole team, (whether it is Christine at the Front Desk, or Meghan the Dental Hygienist, or Dr. Elhady himself) have remained consistent in their commitment to providing an excellent experience and also keeping up with the new technologies. The whole premises is beautiful, their equipment is state of the art, and also Dr. Elhady is eager to explain the procedures and advances that are currently occurring in dentistry. As an example, I went for a routine cleaning and Meghan (Dental Hygienist) performed a thorough cleaning with targeted advice on how I can keep improving my dental health. I was encouraged to use the water pik, the most suitable string floss in combination with other flossing techniques. There is no way to fake this level of dedication. These people love what they do and they are good at it. Five Stars to the team!

What an awesome experience! I have been scared to death to go to the dentist…especially being an adult and doing some true damage to my teeth when I was a teen! So it had been awhile since I had gone for a dentist appointment. I was recommended to Dr. Tamer Elhady and thought I’d give it a shot,it was about time I take care of my teeth. Although I was a little nervous they would tell me my teeth are falling out (my biggest fear-Thanks Coca Cola!) I was greeted by staff and they already knew who I was! Greeted me by my first name and it made me feel a little more relaxed…Christina came out and introduced herself to me,showed me around the office ( which was very high tech to me and over the top beautiful and clean!-and cute christmas decorations too!) I quickly apologized for my teeth being so bad and to my surprise Christina walked me thru everything I needed to do to get my teeth in better shape..and they really weren’t THAT bad! I dreaded getting my teeth cleaned…but Christina walked me thru it too and put numbing topical on my gums and she cleaned my teeth so gently and thoroughly I was in shock! I never remembered the dentist office like this! My teeth felt awesome! Christina made me feel so at home, we chatted about our kids and I really felt like,hey I found my dentist office and taking care of my teeth with some guidance from the professionals…I think I can do this. Adulthood! They are def. professionals, they gave me a welcome coffee cup which I am already using! Dr. Elhady came in and talked to me about my concerns, my long term goals with my teeth and what I need to do to take care of my pearly whites….They did discover I have one cavity..which I believe is pretty good since Its been years….and the best part is I can’t wait to go back and get it fixed. Totally comfortable environment,welcoming,beautiful and thoughtful & personable staff! 🙂 Thanks for such a great experience Oakton Family Dentistry….I can finally say I am not afraid of the dentists office anymore,thanks to you guys!

This dental practice makes the dreaded cleanings an other visits so much more bearable. They are open and have excellent covid safety practices (masks, temp checks, social distancing, hand sanitizer, super clean office)** I have severe dental phobia and have needed extensive work due to my avoidance. When I walked into Oakton I hadn’t been to the dentist in 10 yrs. immediately, the staff was kind. They offered to let me use nitrous oxide for my cleaning. They had a chair warmer, massage chair, tv overhead. And I never felt judged for my fears or like I was silly for using nitrous for a cleaning. Dr. Elrayah can prescribe oral sedation and she did for step one of my journey to fix my smile- a deep cavity filling. I don’t remember a second. Literally left my house and woke up the next day, one cavity less and none the wiser. She is so gentle and fun and helpful and on my non sedated visits has always made me feel reassured. No one ever makes me feel less than for my fears nor do they ever try to encourage me to push through the pain or go another second or any nonsense like I have encountered at other dentists. Just compassion, care, and great dentistry!

I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars!!! This dentist office is absolutely amazing!!!! I felt NO PAIN. They treated me like a QUEEN! No joke, I felt like I was at a spa. Plus a HANDWRITTEN thank you note after the visit was the icing on the cake!! I have had dentists and doctors tell me to stop screaming when in pain because I actually scared their patients away. I have a VERY low pain threshold. When I was in the chair I could see my hands shaking. There were three people in the room while I was in the chair. I was offered nitrous oxide, sunglasses, massaging chair, blanket, etc. I didn’t even feel the needle go into my infected tooth area. I live in Alexandria, Va and went there as part of their Warrior Day event. They help veterans on this day for free. However I plan on going back to them even with the hour long drive. Also going to recommend them to all my family and friends.

Craig Scimeca is my normal dentist. I love him. He is so sensitive to your needs and just a great dentist. Alas he was not there today. Last night I placed an emergency call for a terrible toothache. They had me come at 7am to assess it (I had said I could make it thru the night…little did I know what a horrible night it would be). Anyhow Dr Elhady and his asst Sam saw me 1st pop. While he could not do the needed root canal right then, he did inject me with painkiller to alleviate my suffering (I was teary-eyed and vomiting). And they worked me in at 8:30. They fixed me up spectacularly. I cannot overpraise this practice. Sam is so patient oriented…she knows what is going on in your life and is sensitive to your need for a blanket, a tissue, whatever. And they are bent on making you as comfortable as possible as quickly as possible. They make you feel like friends and certainly like valued clients.

I have been a patient here since moving to Vienna. I first came after a long hiatus in dental care, and Dr. Scimeca worked out a schedule for me to get back into good dental health. I have been a grateful patient ever since, through different procedures to restore and maintain my teeth. When my daughter needed dental care, she also became a patient. When she had a dental emergency on a weekend outside of normal hours, Dr. Scimeca was able to refer her to a trusted surgeon who could handle the procedure needed right away. Dr Elhady is a truly excellent dentist. Whether doing a crown or my recent fixing of my 3 front teeth. On this last, he did truly EXCEPTIONAL work, redoing old bonding to 2 my new whiter 2 front teeth and fixing on the tooth next to it, which stuck out some on the side. Dentist usually said I needed braces to fix the one that stuck out but it wasn’t big enough to ever bother me and I don’t believe in braces when no longer young, as your teeth seem to go back into former shape easily, per a friend of mine who did braces in her 50’s. But Dr Elhady fixed that odd tooth so it looks PERFECT without any need for braces (!) by shaving, bonding and fixing the corners to square off with my other teeth. He could see how to fix it beautifully whereas I could not. He truly has the vision of a great cosmetic dentist. He is skilled, patient in answering questions, and comforting in his manner. He is worth of your trust. My kudos to all of the staff, as well. They are exceptionally responsive to the client’s needs. Indeed they go out of the way to help you. Also, as for dental hygienists Stacy Mangiacina I have ever had in over 60+ years. Her eye to hand coordination is so exceptional, she just doesn’t hit the gums when she uses her tools and so have the least pain and bleeding I have ever had. As a child, I had two extremely bad experiences with my dentist and my orthodontist. After getting my braces off I went to my dentist maybe once more and I vowed never to go back. FIVE years later (after not seeing a dentist) my dad talked me into going to his practice, Oakton Family Dentistry. I have panic attacks every so often and I was so scared to go get checked out. I sat in the chair shaking waiting to get seen with my dad by my side. After meeting with Dr. Tamer Elhady and dental hygienist, Megan they made me feel SO comfortable and were so patient with me. My mom accompanied me as I had a three hour procedure of a deep cleaning. Dr. Elhady and Megan walked me through the whole thing. After maybe one more appointment with my mom or dad there I began to go alone (I’m almost 30). That is how safe they made me feel. As soon you walk in, you can feel the tight knit family they have at Oakton Family Dentistry. The whole staff is outstandingly friendly and it helps that they always have a smile on their faces. I highly recommend this practice if you’re looking to switch dentist or even if it’s your first time. I have already recommended a couple of my friends and they had nothing but excellent feed back. I guarantee you will have a positive experience as well!
