Most of my nieces & nephews are seen by Dr. Nguyen for braces and routine dental care. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Some other reviews said that cost is a factor but like everything else in life – you get what you pay for. Can’t get a Ferrari if you only want to pay for a Toyota. People is complaining that a crown cost more $1,000 as if the dentist get to pocket that entire amount without incurring costs for time, supplies, equipment, etc. A friend of mine is a dental lab technician and he told me the amount of work and precision required to make a crown from the impressions he received from dentists. According to him, there were about 150 separate steps for the lab to make that crown! Anyway, I appreciate the chairside manner. Dr Nguyen took the time to explain the problems and recommended treatment in layman’s term and I feel that she really cares. If you’ve been putting off dental care for a while, I would suggest that you give Dr. Nguyen’s office a try, I’m glad I did!

Dr. Elizabeth Nguyen is highly proficient in providing pain free dental procedures covering the entire spectrum from teeth cleaning to complex bone grafting and implants! She is very caring, thorough and eager to explain the plan of action and procedure. In order to help understand the problem and remedy, the patient is shown large screen digital photos of the affected area before, during and after the procedure is completed. Staff member Mario ( a registered dental assistant) acts as practice manager, receptionist, and chairside assistant. Yancy serves as a chair side assistant and part time receptionist. They both share Dr. Nguyen’s compassion and friendliness toward their patients. I have been looking for general dentist for many years and I have been in many office in the peninsula but none of them work out for me because I felt like the dentists want to push unneeded treatment on me and I know that cause I used to be a dental assistant. I recently move to San Carlos ca and a good friend recommended me this dental office in Redwood city ca. First their location was very convenient and easy to find them just cross street from target, second the front desk girl was very nice and patience with me because I couldn’t find my insurance information. But she told me not to worry, she made a few phone calls and solve the problem for me, then I meet Carlos, the dental assistant, who took few x-ray on me with this new technology that I never saw in my life that it is call digital sensor (I could see my X-rays right away in the computer screen) he was very knowledgeable about dentistry and finally I saw dr. Elizabeth Nguyen who was very gentle, sweet (very attractive woman) and smart when it came to the point to do my treatment plan, she just prioritize what it have to be done right away. To resume my visit, it was the most amazing and pleasent dental visit that I had in many years I will totally comeback to finish my treatment and I will definitely recommend this office to anybody who want to be serve properly for such a great staff like they have in redwood city smile dental and it is too bad that yelp has only 5 start otherwise I will give them a 10 start

Went as a new patient recently for a consultation and cleaning. It was very easy to get in contact with the staff and schedule an appointment that same week. Staff was very friendly and professional. Dr. Nguyen discussed in detail the recommendations she had for my teeth and discussed treatment cost and how much of the bill my insurance was estimated to cover. Dr.Elizabeth Nguyen, Mario, and Xaymara are awesome! I avoided the dentist for a long time despite the pain I would be in for toothaches and well knowing that I had cavities. I was just being a b***h really. Anyway, I called this morning (6/11/18 @ 1015 hrs) and was able to come in at 1300 hrs after dealing with excruciating pain in a chipped tooth for a few days. It was just for a consult before making any decisions, but I ended up getting the tooth extracted today. Felt like such a big boy lol. From the financial stuff to the X-rays to the actual extraction, everything went really smooth, and now I look forward to getting more work done (not really actually, but you know what I mean) by Dr.Elizabeth and her crew!

Just wanted to write a review for those out there looking for a new dentist. I (maybe like you) was not going regularly to the dentist and so I took some time finding a new one that was a) a superb dentist (quality trumps all), b) conveniently located, and c) someone who I think is invested in me having a fantastic smile. I, luckily, made a good decision. As it had been a few seasons (… years) since I had visited the dentist my teeth were in okay, but not great shape. I had some apprehension when first visiting the dentist office because my previous dentist was, in my opinion, more concerned about pushing people through the office versus spending time getting to know the patients concerns. Dr. Nguyen and her staff right off the bat had extremely friendly personalities and easy to get along with. During my initial treatment, there were some imperfections within my mouth and what I most appreciated about the dentist was how much personal time she spent with me to walk me through the plan for healthy teeth so I could get back to a regular semi-annual schedule, of which I am on pace for. She (unlike previous dentists I had been to) did not just come in for the final few minutes of the dental services performed, but was there interacting with her assistant the entire time, answering questions I had. As for the skill of the dentist and her assistant, they were very diligent and relaxed when attending to my pearly whites. Dr. Nguyen clearly knows how to make patients at ease and for the services performed, never once did I feel much pain or discomfort. She went to USC where they are extremely particular on how their hands interact with patients teeth and this training definitely shows. I clearly am a satisfied customer and am lucky to have found such a quality, wonderful dentist who I know I will visit (not too often but regularly) for years to come.

*UPDATE* I had to postpone my fillings appointment because 2017 greeted me with a bad cold and I recently started to feel like myself again. Needles aren’t my thing but Dr. Nguyen has a very gentle touch. The drill ain’t my thing either but there’s nothing they could do about that unfortunately. Very smooth visit overall though I was numb for quite some time. I rather be numb than feel anything so bring that novocaine by the liter Doc!

Since moving to the Bay area I was in need of finding a new dentist for a routine cleaning. I can say that it was easy to set up an appointment, the staff was friendly, and there was no hassle with my insurance. I can’t speak for any advanced procedures but for a general checkup and cleaning I will be returning as the staff was welcoming, knowledgeable and didn’t try to push any procedures I didn’t need. Dr. Nguyen even explained my x-rays and what they look for when exploring options based on teeth health. Ps: They even set up my next appointment for me in 6th months.

I took my partner here because he was WELL OVER DUE for a dental check up and has been in both pain and fear of going to the dentist. First things first. I’m the femme of the relationship. I pretty much house boy wife it while my partner sits back and goes with the flow. I had a good feeling about Smile and decided to get him an appointment here because they take his dental insurance, are local, have good reviews and were VERY friendly on the phone. They were also able to get in him quickly which is a super plus. Walking into the office lobby felt more like walking into a tranquil massage parlor. Let’s just say, this diva-who-loves-decor was impressed! (See pictures) The dentist’s office can be a very frightening place to go so to walk into a place that has a zen feel is an instant wave of comfort. Dr. Nguyen and the receptionist (I forgot her name but she ROCKS the front desk) were at the front and greeted us as we sat down to fill out paperwork. I ended up chatting with them about all sorts of “hey girlfriend” kind of topics and at that point I just KNEW we were at the right place. I mean seriously, we even got my partner to smile under his nervous frown! Work work work! Next was off to the x-ray and exams rooms. I went with him, mind you, and the good vibes continued in the ambiance and level of CARE throughout the x-rays and exam. Dr. Nguyen was straight up on the ball with everything. She was able to map out a plan of EVERYTHING he needed done right now, including a deep down and dirty cleaning + multiple teeth that needed to be fixed (which I knew already about and am glad he went here to get his wake up call because homeboy has NOT been responsible about his teeth and I had to put the diva heel down to GET him in there!) … I also asked her to take him to school about how smoking is effecting his poor dental health. I was amazed at her thoughtful, understanding and charismatic approach that did not shame him but encouraged him instead with compassion and tips! From there it was a matter of coming up with a plan of action, discussing payment, discussing financing and such. Note: They do take Care Credit and multiple insurances. We were unable to make any decisions at the time because we wanted to leave and discuss it all. We were not pushed or rushed to make a decision either which is very refreshing because not all offices are like that. We left with a copy of the plan and some calls to make. At this point, it’s really a matter of figuring out how to pay for his co-pays, based on his low income, in order to continue with the dental plan. He felt comfortable here. I feel comfortable taking him here and I hope we can work with Dr. Nguyen and her incredible team because I really want to give them our business and trust he would be in the best hands possible here. The location is very convenient. There is parking in the back. The entire office and people here have good energy. The office is very clean/sanitary. They are eager to work with you if you need help figuring out a plan and financing and will take as much time as you need to go over everything without pushing you. They make going to the dentist an enjoyable experience. You can relax now 🙂

This happened last year and I meant to share it but life happened! One word, PROCRASTINATION (not proud at all :'(but I did it, I waited until the final days of the year to get a check up and I’m sure a lot of people did too so I’m not alone!). Called Redwood City Smile Dental and as packed as their schedule was they managed to squeeze me in for a cleaning. It has been a few years so I thought I might need some serious work done. Thank the Heavens I just got away with a very thorough deep cleaning and will need a bunch of fillings (5, not too bad for not visiting the dentist for a few years now. Last time I got a check up was in 2008… I know, not PROUD!). I couldn’t get an appointment for my fillings sooner than January 12th 2017 but, again, it’s my fault for waiting until the last days of the year. The dental assistant was very friendly and knowledgeable. He taught me the right technique that should be used for flossing and brushing. Dr. Nguyen is very thorough in explaining the pros and cons of having or not having a deep cleaning done as well as letting me know what would happen if I waited any longer for my cavities to be filled. Not a fan of needles, but who is? I have to get it done and I promised I would come regularly for my check ups and I would floss EVERY SINGLE DAY (they know if we are lying about flossing haha!). The girl in the front is also very friendly and knows a lot about insurance. She explained the payment options I had and answered all questions about my particular dental insurance. It’s a small office but very cozy and inviting. It’s right on El Camino and very accessible. Parking is not great because they share it with a restaurant and at the time I went everybody was eating dinner and the parking was packed so I had to park across the street. They are open until 7 pm which is a plus since I get off work at 5 pm and its very close to my work so I can manage to get my dental work done before heading home. *UPDATE* I had to postpone my fillings appointment because 2017 greeted me with a bad cold and I recently started to feel like myself again.
