I was a bit nervous because I hadn’t been to a dentist for many years. I purchased a $49 Groupon special and was worried to find out how bad my teeth were, especially not having any insurance. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Shin’s office right from the moment I walked in. The reception area was small but very comfortable with Jazz and Classical music playing. The staff was very friendly and helped put me at ease by offering me bottled water and the use of the restroom. My x-rays were quickly taken and it was impressive to see them instantly on the screen which made it easier to understand Dr. Shin’s recommended treatment. She clearly pointed out areas in my mouth that were a priority. She used very basic terms that I could understand and I was floored that such an inexpensive Groupon deal offered so much knowledge and valuable information about the current status of my teeth, let alone a thorough cleaning. Dr. Shin was not pushy or car salesmen-like with me, but simply gave me payment plan options for my treatment as well as a discount for being a cash patient. I did, however feel treated differently than from other dentists when I had insurance. Dr. Shin treated me like we were long-time friends and she was simply giving advice. In return, she got a dedicated patient for life. Bye-bye dental anxiety, see you soon, doctor!

Best dentist office I have ever been a patient of. They have state of the art equipment, I got the best cleaning that I have ever gotten ( dramatic whiting effect outstanding hygienist), and they had the best HD camera to show me before and after cleaning pics. Dr. Shin struck me as honest, professional, confident, and of service to me. I felt as though Dr. Shin was caring for me and the health of my teeth, rather than conveying Type-A personality  / superiority complex. She is gentle and kind, as are her office staff and hygienist. The receptionist is a grounding force in reality and serious socially adept personality; she treats everyone with interest, willingness to listen and reflects back positive vibes with full sincerity. I actually felt blessed, when I came across this office by chance and was so stunned by all of the performance that they produced for me.

I can’t say enough about the polite and professional staff. Had an emergency right before Christmas and all the clinics, like dental schools, were closed. I don’t have insurance. I was referred by another dentist in my frantic search. They were so kind and reasonable and understanding. What a miracle to have found them!! She even called me after hours to see how I was doing after my emergency wisdom tooth removal. Hoping that when I get  insurance I can make Susie my regular dentist.

Customer service has been nothing short of TOP NOTCH at Dr Shin’s. I purchased the Groupon deal and took my kids in for cleanings on different days.  During both visits, appointments were running on the dot and very efficient.  Her office is relaxing, spotless and very modern.  I love an office that communicates on texts and emails. But the NUMBER ONE reason I LOVE her… My son was injured, got 4 teeth knocked in, during basketball practice one evening and I called her on her “emergency line” in a panic.  It was after hours and she had gone home already but she offered to drive back in the pouring rain, that same evening!  We met her in her office at 8PM and she got right to work- xrays and then braces to secure his teeth.  Fee for the visit was very reasonable, all things considered! I’m a fan and Dr Shin comes highly recommended!

Susie’s skill and talent is 5-star in its-self. I been seeing Susie Shin for about 4 years now and even with me moving to San Jose I cannot/will not go to any other dentist. Finding a dentist for me is hard because I’m a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my smile. Susie is a tooth artist. She has done my Invisalign, re-created my front tooth that chipped in half (by hand), root-canal and she is able to figure out things other dentists can’t. By looking at my teeth she is able to call me out for grinding in my sleep, which is true. Before meeting her I never had a night guard, this recommendation is honestly saving my teeth. I also have a perfect smile, I wish I can show before and after shots. Her service gets another 5-stars, she deserves 10. Susie cares about her patients. It’s not just with me, I hear her with the others and you can tell she genuinely cares about their wellbeing and satisfaction. Also, I get so many reminders and txt msg reminders of when my next appointment is which is super convenient. Also reminders in recommended services like cleanings and stuff. I had a lot of dentists, and none of them follow up WITH A PERSONAL PHONE CALL to see if I am still in pain after a procedure. I had a bill and insurance covered less than what we thought it would, but they did not charge me, they ate the difference. Never has that happened to me before, it was like a $300 difference and they took care of me. I’m a patient for life. Susie Shin is unrivaled. Her professionalism, the genuine care her and her office exudes is something to really admire. Her whole office is amazing. Mimi who does my cleaning is also the best. She explains every little curiosity I have with such detail (and patience). It’s actually something I look forward to so much, I see her 3x a year. Victoria is also great, in the little time I got to know her she is very multi-talented. Cute as a button and is super sweet!

The staff and the dentist are so nice here they care for the patients and the experience is amazing it’s really nice since we are in pain they are here to help and are so nice. Thank you for been so understanding with the patients and not make us wait weeks to to a appointment.

I saw Dr. Shin for 3-4 years while living in San Francisco. I had fillings, bonding, invisalign, and cleanings done by her. She is a perfectionist – super meticulous, which I love. She was really patient with my invisalign process – sanding down my teeth where I needed more space, little each time. She notices things you don’t notice until she points it out to you and then she’ll fix it (you will agree). Invisalign turned out well. She’s gentle, so nothing’s too painful. She was meticulous with my fillings, making sure my bite was natural and comfortable. Love the tooth-color fillings, btw. I’m writing this review even though I moved to New York 2 yrs ago and haven’t seen her since, because I saw a new dentist last week (first time in 2 years) who took x-rays and examined my teeth… He said my last dentist was excellent. Everything – the bonding, fillings, etc. was perfect. So it reminded me that I should post a great review for her which I always meant to do but never remembered to until now. I highly recommend Susie. She’s also funny 🙂 P.S. Her assistant back then was Vilma (may still be) and she’s a sweetheart. Loved dealing with her on phone and her prepping for my appt.

Dr Shin and her team were delightful. I purchased a deal via groupon to get x-rays and cleaning and have to say that I didn’t experience any of the salesman-pitching a few others have described in their posts. Perhaps she’s looked over some of the yelp reviews and revised her approach? In any case, her hygienists were extremely friendly and the whole process was easy and fast, without feeling rushed and still thorough enough for my money! Overall, a very pleasant experience and definitely recommended!

Easily the BEST dentist in San Francisco.  The entire office is efficient, friendly, and flexible. My teeth never looked better. Her honestly is so refreshing for a doctor, as she sometimes may suggest not spending money on x-rays, if not truly needed. She even gives Sarbucks gift cards for referrals. How many people actullay enjoy going to the dentist? I DO !!

I was looking for a new dentist in the downtown area and was referred to Dr. Shin by a dentist friend that I trust very much.  Sure enough, I was very pleased with the great service and all around friendly staff.  Similar to other reviewers, I found her to be gentle and thorough. Oh, and I was also glad that they have the computerized xray machine that doesn’t require the sharp paper inserts which used to stick out painfully into my gums and cheeks. I’ll be back again in 6 months!
