Dr. Barnes and team are great! Our entire family uses her, including our two young boys. She is incredibly knowledgeable, smart, experienced and personable. She and her team take great care with patients and possess terrific bedside manners. We have always received quality procedures with the utmost care. Highly recommend without hesitation!

I always have excellent experience at Treasure Pearls Dentistry, Dr Kari Barnes. You should see my teeth. She is excellent with Caps, Implants, cleaning and checking the gum pocket around your teeth. Dr Barnes and team also wear Personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure your protected from the COVID-19.

I found Dr. Barnes through my insurance portal and looked at the yelp reviews prior to making an appointment. I saw a couple responses saying they had terrible customer service and that Dr. Barnes can come off as “rough” but I decided to still go since 1. It’s very close to my office and 2. I love an all black staff, especially dentist. My first visit was great, her staff was very friendly and genuine. Dr. Barnes took the time to explain all her observations and concerns and allowed me to ask as many questions as I wanted. She was very patient and kind. Pam also helped me understand my insurance breakdown and everything! My second visit was for 2 teeth extractions. Firstly, I loved that every staff member remembered my name and my procedure. I was very nervous about the procedure itself and Octavia and Dr. Barnes were extremely helpful in calming my nerves. Dr. Barnes also explained what to expect and demonstrated which was helpful (for me at least). The procedure didn’t take very long and they both made sure I understood all the do’s and don’t for post care. I also appreciated that the very next day, Dr. Barnes calls me to check in on how I was feeling and if I had any questions. I absolutely love this practice. Dr. Barnes and her staff are just great people and they’re very professional. I plan to share their contact information with everyone! I most definitely recommend.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Barnes because I recently started a new job, got the good dental insurance (finally! hooray!) and was way overdue for a cleaning/check-up…it had been about three years. The staff were very polite and friendly over the phone when I scheduled the appointment and called me a few days prior to my appointment to remind me. To preface this review- I have SO much anxiety about the dentist because of some traumatic experiences as a kid and so I am always fairly nervous for even routine dental appointments. I research dentists extensively beforehand and chose Dr. Barnes because of her high ratings on Yelp and the positive reviews. I was not disappointed in my choice! The staff overall at Treasured Pearls are very sweet and friendly. I didn’t wait more than 10 minutes for my appointment to start despite they were all coming back from their lunch hour, noon-1 p.m. The hygienist was very sweet, very clearly explained to me the procedure of the x-ray and set me up in the chair. Then Dr. Barnes came out and introduced herself and proceeded to review my x-rays, talk to me about the few concerns I had, and did the entire cleaning herself with the assistance of the hygienist- which was awesome. She was also very sweet, explained things clearly to me as she went along. Much to my surprise, I had a clean bill of dental health! Whew! Dr. Barnes and the hygienist were very kind and considerate of the fact that I was (clearly) nervous. It was about an hour & a few minutes and I was all done! Things I like: the office is centrally located downtown, a few walking blocks from my office, which made this very easy to do on my lunch break. The office staff are very friendly and efficient, Dr. Barnes & the hygienist are both very friendly and knowledgeable and made an experience that is normally very nerve-wracking to me a very easy and stress-less one. I will definitely be keeping Dr. Barnes as my regular dentist and recommended her to my friends, coworkers and anyone who needs a dentist rec! I highly recommend her! Things I didn’t like: really, nothing. Which is saying a lot because I typically find something worthy of anxiety in dentist appointments and that was not the case here.

The practice has a really calming atmosphere, from the background music playing, to the way Dr. Barnes soothes your concerns with how she explains the procedure, your options, and welcomes questions. The staff is also really, really nice; that stood out to me especially because they give the first impression of the practice.

I’m a big fan of Treasured Pearls. I’ve been a patient since the practice opened and never thought for a second about straying off to look for another dentist in the dense DC forest. They are accommodating on scheduling appointments, see you on time when you arrive, give timely reminders [who can remember an appointment that is months away?] and are very good on billing, which means less time for me to fight with my dental insurance company.

I have never been impressed with any business more so than Treasured Pearls. From my first phone call to book my appointment to the check out process and follow up scheduling, Treasured Pearls is indeed a treasure. The customer service, attention, and through explanations of the entire process was unexpected and an amazing breath of fresh air. The environment was clean, my visit was efficient, and before I left I was already contacting people I knew were looking for a regular dentist. Despite being nervous about having to get some work done, I’m actually looking forward to stepping into the office again.

The team here is awesome! I’m always in & out quickly with little disturbance to my day. They schedule appointments so I can come before work or during my lunch… & I’ve never had to wait! The dentist worked a miracle on a broken front tooth in an emergency & I felt absolutely no pain. She & her staff are the best in the DC area!!

A wonderful experience for the last few months. Dr Barnes and her staff simply awesome!! Starting with Ms. Pam greeting you at the front desk, efficiently updating records and processing insurance quickly to both dental hygienists expediently and warmly welcoming you back to perform their duties proficiently in clinical examination, cleaning, and imaging when necessary. Then the lady herself approaches with kindness, reassurance and completes the service with a warm smile and addressing any concerns before seeing you off to the checkout desk. I have had necessary interventions which were performed skillfully and without complications, referred when appropriate and enjoy coming to this practice despite nerves in the beginning. A treasured dental practice is an understatement for this gem of a practice successful in DC through the scope of disease and treatments offered. I have nothing but great things to say about Treasured Pears, Dr. Barnes and the entire team. I was in Washington on a work trip when a tooth broke. I called around and was dismissed everywhere despite my emergency. I wish that I would have called Treasured Pears first. They cared about my situation and were able to see me right away. They couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly. Based on my visit, I could see the care and service standards are high at Treasured Pearls and if Washington, DC ever becomes my home, I know who my dentist will be!

It’s strange how my fear of going to the dentist has been turned into a pleasurable experience by Treasured Pearls. From the moment you enter this clean and welcoming outfit, you feel as if you are with people who care passionately about you as a person and about your health. Lead dentist, Dr. Barnes, is highly skilled, knowledgeable and reassuring. Follow up calls and texts by her after a critical procedure reveal a passion for each patient’s wellbeing. I never hesitate to recommend my friends and acquaintances to Treasured Pearls, as I am confident that they will be impressed with this outfit in the heart of our capital city as I have been.

I had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Kari Barnes for a severely broken tooth ( on taffy). She is so calm and gentle ( I am a bit afraid if the dentist ) and made sure to place a very solid white filling to repair the tooth. Her office has soothing music and the office staff , including her front desk Kathy and assistant were terrific! They all made me feel at calm and at ease… I left the office quickly and happily with a brand new, strong, and beautiful filling. No more taffy for me…even though I would like to visit Dr. Barnes again!

Very professional and friendly dentist and dental staff. The entire visit was pleasant and every member of the staff was courteous. In addition to user friendly online COVID and patient registration forms, we did not have to wait! Teaching throughout the entire visit and all of the staff is knowledgeable. After visiting dentist in Arlington, VA and Rockville, MD, we have found the right practice “Treasured Pearls Dentistry” will be our be our new family dentist. Nice to know people still take pride and time with their work and patient’s.

I don’t give a five-star rating very often, however, the fantastic treatment I received from Dr. Barnes and her staff makes it easy.  I have been to many dentists over the years, and I can honestly say Dr. Barnes is one of the best. I came for a check-up and cleaning (which was done by Dr. Barnes) knowing I might need to have a thirty-five year old crown replaced. Dr. Barnes assessed the crown and recommended a replacement. Two short visits later, I now have a new crown that is perfect. The process was quick, easy and painless. Dr. Barnes is a very skilled technician and from the moment you sit in her chair you know you are in good hands. Dr. Barnes and her staff are very pleasant, informative, and make a trip to the dentist a pleasent experience. When there was a slight problem with my insurance deductable, Kathy  was on the case and had the problem fixed in a matter of minutes. I was so impressed with Treasured Pearls that I made an appointment for my wife. She was also very happy with the entire experience and gives them five stars, too.  After my wife’s appointment Treasured Pearls sent me a Starbucks gift certificate for referring a new patient.  Nice touch!

I was way over-due to see a dentist for a cleaning (I’ve been living in DC but was still waiting to see the dentist until I went home for vacations.), and happened upon Treasured Pearls through my insurance provider’s website. I saw the few but very positive reviews so I thought I would give them a try. I made an appointment the same afternoon because there had been a cancellation, which couldn’t have been more convenient. Very glad I saw Dr. Barnes and picked Treasured Pearls! The staff was very polite and positive, even when I had silly questions about the forms. Since I had to schedule another visit to replace a 15 year-old filling, I was also given an estimate of how much my insurance would cover and the “worst case scenario” that I would have to pay out of pocket for the filing replacement. After having an x-ray taken, Dr. Barnes conducted my entire cleaning from start to finish, including the flossing (which I normally have experienced is done by hygienists). She explained what she was doing when checking my gum health and explained what the different numbers meant for each tooth. Both she and the hygienist were also very positive, friendly, and professional throughout the whole visit. Additional plus: the office actually smelled really nice (not like mint or toothpaste) and they had some nice jazzy/soulful acoustic music playing.

Dr. Barnes and her staff are excellent, mindful of patients’ time, and always provide patients with a pleasant experience. I can honestly say I’m very picky when it comes to dentists and I’m not a fan of dental work, but once I started going to Treasured Pearls I felt the most comfortable I’ve felt at a dentist’s office. I can’t recommend her enough!

I went to Dr. Barnes to have some work done on my tooth. Mind you, I am always a basket case whenever I have a dental appointment. I guess it comes with age. To my surprise, thanks to the compassionate care of Dr. Barnes and her staff I left with a smile. She help me through my anxiety moment with a caring and gentle way. Far exceeded my expectation. I continue to bring my children and myself to see Dr. Barnes. This last visit I showed signs of grinding my teeth. Dr Barnes carefully explained my treatment options and the step by step in order of priority. This is very helpful as I try to budget and do the most important thing. She continues to be gentle and compassionate and comprehensive as she works with my mouth and teeth. I also got cavities filled on this last visit and they were done very well, no pain, and great attention to detail. Dr. Barnes’ grasp on the 3 dimensional architectural concepts comes through when I am able to bite just as normal as before my cavities were filled. She is essentially an artist/engineer/doctor in one person. Her practice stands apart from others because of of her staff’s politeness, her timeliness, and willingness to work on various treatment options.

Treasured Pearls will always be my dentist as long as I’m in DC. My whole family goes to Dr. Barnes and we love her! When you have an appointment they always make sure to send you notifications so you don’t forget and they also have quick and easy buttons to either confirm your appointment or contact them. Today I went in for a filling, within 30 minutes, I was out of there with not only a filling, but with a cleaning and my yearly x-rays completed. Their speed and care will always make my family come back there year after year.

Visiting the office of Dr. Cheryl Barnes at Treasured Pearls Dentistry is not like going to the dentist at all. Her bedside manner is kind gentle and first-rate professionalism. She explains everything thoroughly giving you clear understanding about your circumstances to make the best decision. With a staff that compliments her in top-notch professionalism, I feel I’m in the safest of care whenever I visit. I’m so glad I found Treasured Pearls Dentistry! Michelle Chisolm

Ive been in the office a few times now and I just had to reach out and leave a review! I have observed Dr. Barnes patient relationships and I absolutely love the respect she has for them! As a dental patient, it means so much that the dentist actually takes time to not only do great and efficient work but also reaches out to get to know me individually. Her assistant, Octavia is so lovely and her knowledge in the dental field makes me so comfortable while in the chair. The front desk ladies, Pam and Maud go out of their way to make sure I am greeted as soon as I walk in and that my account is up to date and I am aware of any financial costs before my treatment. Dentistry just does NOT get any better then this! Thank you for all that you do!

Cannot recommend more! This is my first time reviewing a business online because I was so impressed by Dr. Barnes and her team. They’re incredibly friendly and professional. Her team was also super quick to help me schedule appointments and to answer questions, and were transparent and helpful about insurance and costs.
