I’m writing in response to Sarah T’s review. I’ve been a patient of the Nguyens for almost 4 years and find them to be quite competent. First of all, getting XRays from a patient is not upselling. Your regular dentist took XRays, was s/he upselling? I’ve been to a dentist in LA who wanted to replace a porcelain crown I’d had put in a year prior by a different dentist while also trying to convince me to bleach my teeth. That’s upselling. The Nguyens are a no-frills mom and pop shop. And the TV? She puts that on for YOU to watch while she cleans your teeth.

Dr Nguyen and his staff are the best!!! I’ll never go anywhere else! I had been procrastinating about going to the dentist for way too long. This was the result of a series of bad experiences with dentists that are available through my insurance. I had some mild pain and knew my teeth needed to be addressed so reluctantly I finally decided to to take care of things. I searched Yelp reviews of my providers and found Tuan M. Nguyen to have very good and genuine reviews. They’re office is small but ample. Dr Nguyen is absolutely the most gentle and caring dentist I have ever been to. He also has the highest level of attention to detail that I have ever experienced. He does everything possible to save a good tooth… I think that is what every dentist should do but there are so many unethical dentists out there that would rather take your $$$ to perform costly but unnecessary procedures which could have been avoided in the first place. They genuinely care about their patients. Something that I believe is extremely rare in this day and age.

My only disappointment is that I no longer live in the area. The level of care is exceptional and they definitely take the time to educate in a way that is just completely lovely — no feeling whatsoever of judgment or finger wagging. Really neat people!!! I’m wishing that I could find a dentist exactly like this where I live now but alas I feel like the standard of care I received from Drs. Nguyen is too exceptional! 🙂

Is it really 2016? Update time. The Drs. Nguyen continue to delight and amaze. This is health care the way it is meant to be. No upselling, no get ’em in and get ’em out, no unnecessary dental work to pay for Junior’s college. This is a small family business I trust. Because they earn my trust. Went to them on a recommendation from a friend. Boy am I glad. Both doctors seemed very switched on and “present”. She did my x-rays, cleaning and evaluation herself, nice to see a dentist vs. a dental tech with a dentist “drive-by”. Gentle, affordable and nice people. What more could you want from a dentist?

Dr. Nguyen has been our family dentist for over 16 years…. We trust them with our entire family because they listen to our concerns and accommodate our needs. I am very particular with all of my children health care needs and I always expect the best customer service and quality in techniques for cleanings and tooth extractions. Whenever we have an issue they get us in ASAP to take care of us in a timely manner. I have never had an issue with billing/insurance claims – it has always been 100% correct. The main thing about both Doctors is that they are extremely caring, professional and very meticulous in their technique as a Dentist. Even though they are not Orthodontist – all 3 of children have braces and they always seem to fine ways to work around the brackets and wires that can become tricky to work around. No matter what issues my children have (and they have a lot) both Doctors will figure out a solution to make it better so I am satisfied as a parent. I was looking for a Dentist 16 years ago and just walked into the office and thank goodness I did, because my family and I have a Dentist family we trust to take care of us for many years to come.

I am 75 years old and have had many dentists treat me in my life. I have recently had a LOT of work that had to be done, and Dr. Nguyen has done an excellent job of correcting all my dental problems and being a very good listener, a rarity in this world. I’ve been going to Dr Tuan and Cathleen for years. I used to pay out of pocket for a few years when I had a different insurance plan but never felt that the other dental office cleaned my teeth very well. Cathleen, she cleans my teeth like nobody’s business!!! Now, my employer has the insurance that Dr Tuan & Cathleen have. Yea!!! Dr Tuan Nguyen has done a lot of extensive work on my teeth, he’s very gentle and meticulous. They have television on for my distraction. These two are the best and their staff is very caring and helpful. I highly recommend anyone who wants AA+++ work- then go to these two!!

My son convinced me to see Dr. Nguyen. I was completely convinced after he raved about his root canal with Dr. Nguyen . Now my son has NEVER in his life raved about a dentist ! And especially not for a very long and complex root canal! I dislike going to the dentist as many people do, having had some terrible experiences in the past. However after talking with Dr. Nguyen for a few minutes I felt complete trust in him. He has a very respectful and reassuring manner, never pushing you to do any particular procedure; patiently taking time to answer questions. He is the first dentist that has been able to explain to me (in a non annoyed way) what was happening ,and why certain things could or could not be done. This may sound strange but it’s like he has graceful hands. When I had an intensive root scaling and planing, he was so gentle, and skilled that the time flew by and I experienced no discomfort, no pain. I am probably forgetting many of the other reasons I no longer dread my dental appointments. I just know that I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Nguyen!

I have been to several dentists in the area ove the years. Tuan is by far the best. He has “soft” hands and is very gentle. He is conservative and always will opt for less invasive and less costly option for patiient. I never feel any pain – as he administersr right amount of medicine and the results are great. I highly recommend both Dentists in this practice. When we first started with Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Domingo my 5 year old son had some fears where dentists were concerned. Dr. Domingo eased his fears by her gentle manner and her genuine interest in kids. Dr. Nguyen has also done an excellent job with my son. My son is now 9 years old and has no more fears of the dentist. Thank you Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Domingo for your patience, honest approach and your excellent care of my son’s dental needs over the years.
A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
Dr. Tuan M. Nguyen is originally from New York. He finished his secondary education at the Lycee Francais de New York. He graduated from State University of New York Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Nguyen received his DDS degree in 1991 from New York University Dental School and was on the Dean's List. Upon graduation from dental school, he attended a one-year dental residency program at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. When he completed his residency dental program, he went into private practice and had an office in Queens, NY and Manhattan. Dr. Nguyen is joined by his wife Dr. Cathleen Domingo-Nguyen. She also graduated from State University of New York Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She also received her DDS degree in 1993 from New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Domingo-Nguyen was a participant of the Senior Honors Program in her last year of dental school and was granted the Pierre Fauchard Award. She also completed a one year dental residency program at Coler Hospital with a dental program affiliated Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Domingo-Nguyen moved from New York in 1995. They have been in their Encinitas practice since 1997.
