I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Moon and his practice. I was referred here separately by two colleagues, both long-time patients. I was having a dental crisis: I had an unhappy relationship with a dentist who failed to give me good information to make informed decisions about my dental care. As a result, I was maxed out on annual dental insurance benefits and needed two emergency root canals. I came to Dr. Moon when I wanted a second opinion prior to getting the second root canal. I craved a dentist’s opinion to make sure I wasn’t being oversold on an unnecessary root canal by an endodontist. When I got in to see Dr. Moon, I was pretty livid about my experience with my previous dentist over the prior few months: his work led me to 4 fillings, two crowns, one root canal before a crown was seated, a second root canal planned on top of a newly seated crown, and I was at the point where I was about to be paying out-of-pocket. Dr. Moon listened patiently as I ranted and then rationally spelled out how/why he would have done things differently. Fundamentally he agreed that I had a lot of cavities/spots where fillings would be beneficial, but he questioned the validity of the two crowns. If I had seen him to begin with, he might have attempted fillings before fully drilling down to place crowns. Ultimately, the drilling for those crowns is what led me to need the two emergency root canals. Dr. Moon readily confirmed that a root canal was a good idea – the boost in confidence I really needed at that moment. Additionally, my old dentist was being simple-minded (my words, not Dr. Moon’s – he’s far more professional than that) in not connecting the dots between my awful facial pain and the drilling for the crowns which even he had known was super close to the nerves in those teeth. It’s my belief that had I seen Dr. Moon to begin with, I could have avoided not just the expense of two root canals and two crowns, but also the immense pain that I endured for over 6 weeks before I was finally able to get an endodontist to confirm that a root canal would solve my issue. After this initial consult, I saw my endodontist to get my second root canal, and then returned to Dr. Moon to get the post-root canal filling on the crown. He also replaced a filling completed by my old dentist as it was poorly placed/completed and was causing new problems. Since I had maxed out my insurance for the year, we agreed to reassess the rest of my teeth come January 2015. He was not at all aggressive in his treatment plan or in selling work, taking in to consideration my financial situation. In fact, he’s extremely pragmatic and honest. He joked about being the “last honest dentist” – but I would say this quite seriously. I trust him implicitly and would recommend him to anybody. Unfortunately, I’ve since learned that Dr. Moon has dropped my PPO plan, so he will be out-of-network for me for future visits. I’m sorely disappointed that I might need to find a new dentist and that now anybody I ever see will have to live up to his reputation. But I’d like to add a few additional notes about the magnitude of his generosity. He helped work out a modified payment plan for me since I was going out-of-pocket. He gave me in-network rates even though at that point he was already out-of-network for me (I wasn’t aware of this until after the fact). He and his staff quickly, efficiently, and graciously resolved a few billing changes for me, reducing my out-of-pocket expenditure for the year. He recognized my anxiety with my old/terrible dentist and truly bent over backwards to accommodate me financially and, quite frankly, emotionally. I would never in a million years expect that kind of personalized service and care from a dentist. So even though I might not have the pleasure of being a patient again in the future: thanks. Seriously. From the bottom of my heart. Y’all (Dr. Moon and staff) helped me in a time of crisis and your patients are extremely lucky to be under your care. If you’re reading this review and Dr. Moon is in-network for you: you will absolutely not regret becoming a patient here.
